Florida Nursing Home GraceWood Rehab Under Investigation in Resident's Sun-Related Death

The State of Florida, through its Department of Children and Families, is investigating a mysterious sun-related death of a nursing home resident in the GraceWood Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center. The GraceWood nursing home is located in Pinellas Park, Florida and has been on the State of Florida's 'Nursing Home Watch List' for failing to correct deficiencies.

The decedent, Wilbert Henry Moten, spent hours outdoors on Saturday when temperatures rose into the 90s on a humid day. Moten was wheelchair bound and could not move himself inside the building on his own. He died later of a heart attack. Moten's guardian and officials are investigating whether his prolonged sun exposure led to his passing.
